As a runway model in the 1980s and Miss Georgia World finalist, Janeen discovered her love of cosmetics. Although she thrived in front of the camera, she soon realized that her true passion was in working behind the scenes in the world of makeup artistry and hair styling.

 

“I took the powder brush by the handle and never looked back,” says Janeen. Indeed, her first job in the industry was as an esthetician for the prestigious Adrien Arpel line. While she enjoyed learning more about her newfound career, she was eager to express herself in a more artistic way.

 

Janeen then served as an apprentice for highly respected makeup artist Aimee Hinson before landing her dream job as a makeup artist with Christian Dior, the most luxurious cosmetics line in the world. During her eight-year tenure with Dior, she refined her skills as an artist and absorbed the vast inspiration and educational opportunities the company offered her.

 

A career beyond the retail world soon beckoned, and Janeen began working as a makeup artist for commercial and fashion photo shoots in the mid 1990s.

 

“The imagery of fashion and advertising photography is a fantasy unto itself, and I was truly bitten by the bug,” notes Janeen. Working with the Crews Agency based in Atlanta, GA, Janeen quickly found a market for her extensive talents.

 

Janeen’s work has appeared in movies, magazines, newspapers, billboards, annual reports, television commercials, live industry shows, hair shows and theater productions. She has been privileged to work with everyone from ballerinas to boxers… models to movie stars… comedians to corporate elite… recording artists to “real people.”

 

The idea for Moody Makeup grew from Janeen’s habit of organizing her kits and thinking about makeup in terms of color.as it related to her mood... “I realized I was creating mood stories subconsciously, and I knew that was the start of my next great adventure,” Janeen says.
